Words and Music Night at the Country Music Hall of Fame!

My Clint wrote a song for a Country Music Hall of Fame contest...and was chosen as one of the winners! His song was put to music by Nashville songwriter, Jeff Dayton, and they performed it together on Tuesday night at the CM Hall of Fame "Words and Music Night"! At first Clint was a little unsure...ok...he was ALOT unsure!...about getting on stage and singing! But after a little encouragement from me, and Jeff, he agreed to give it a try! And I think he did fantastic! I, however, was horrible at video taping and am still waiting on my friend to come show me how to transfer it from her recorder to my blog! So...as soon as that happens, I will put the video on here. But for now, here are some pictures of the big night! Congratulations, Clint!! We are so proud of you!

The banquet was held at Opryland's SpringHouse Golf Course with pictures made at the Opryland Hotel...

Titans Draft Day Party

We are so fortunate here to have wonderful friends for our boys. I never cease to be amazed at their generosity in included members of our family in some of their fun adventures. Tonight was no exception, as one of Grant's friends, Sam, asked him to join them at LP Field for the Titans Draft Day Party. Meeting old and new players, hanging out with the cheerleaders, and even swinging by Coach Fisher's office was just some of the fun to be had! Thanks Marc and Sam!!

Tim Tebow comes to Lipscomb!

Saturday night Tim Tebow, a Heisman Trophy winner and two-time National Champion as quarterback for the University of Florida, spoke to a sellout crowd of 5,500 at Allen Arena on the Lipscomb University campus for the second annual "Don Meyer Evening of Excellence". The speech was the culmination of a full day of activities, including a special treat for us...a luncheon for Athletic Department staff and their families. At the luncheon, all those attending where able to see Tim up-close and personal as he took pictures with staff families and talked and answered questions. His dedication to his faith and his willingness to boldly speak out for what he believes in was an inspiration to everyone who was in attendance. Gator fan or not, you couldn't help but be a Tebow fan by the time the night was over!

Family Pictures

Last night we had our family pictures made for the church directory. Somehow we managed to find a night when all six of us had nothing else planned...not an easy thing to do! (I think the last time we had a family picture made was...three, maybe four years ago!) And I love that I now have a really fun one of all four of the boys before Carter goes off to college! The first one is definitely my favorite!

Two great road wins for Scott and the Bisons!

Josh Slater flirted with a triple-double Thursday night, finishing with 19 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds in Lipscomb’s 93-75 win over Florida Gulf Coast. Then Saturday night, juniors Josh Slater and Adnan Hodzic scored 26 points each as the Lipscomb Bisons defeated Stetson 85-71 . Lipscomb improves it record to 15-12 overall and 12-6 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The last two home games of the season will be this coming Thursday and Saturday! Good Luck, Bisons!!

Meet my new friend!

I have to introduce you to my newest, most precious friend Camdyn! He is gonna be hanging out with me some, now that his Mom has gone back to work! With one of my own boys having one foot out the door, Camdyn graciously agreed to come and keep me company! I've even gotten a couple great naps out of the deal so far...and naps never happen around here! Carter and Clint think he's gonna fit in just fine - his name does start with a "C"! On the down side, he IS a Razorback fan...well, we are just gonna have to work on that one!

I have been going through tons of pictures (which I am finding stuck in the strangest places!), and trying to put together a "slide show" for Carter's High School graduation. This one was taken in 2nd grade...his first year here at David Lipscomb! Look at that precious face! He was 8 years old! Where did 10 years go?! Guess you need to be marking your calendars for MAY 15th...and guess I need to be thinking about ordering some graduation invitations! Well, just write it down - you all are invited!!

Senior Night - David Lipscomb High School

Radnor Lake...

Although I have not been walking around the lake as much as I did when the weather was warmer, I couldn't resist going up there this afternoon to see what it looked like covered in snow. And, just as I thought, it was beautiful...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Well, the snow did come! TONS of snow! And it kept coming until we had somewhere between 5 to 7 inches...or more! (Depending on who you ask!) But it definitely was enough to get out the sleds and the snowboards and head on over to the nearest hill for some serious sledding! I even managed a few turns on the "old school" sleds...which for some reason just don't handle as well as I remember! Must be the sled!! And after being tossed off into the snow a couple times - which is not as soft as it looks! - I decided I would make a better photographer than a sledder! What a blast! I love seeing my kids have so much fun! (Clint and Garrett were still at their friends houses...so we had to pick up a few friends! You know I can't travel with less than four...or more!)

Today is Clint's 15th birthday! He spent the night at one of his best friend's houses to celebrate...and now today when I called to see what time I needed to come pick him up, he was sure they were completely snowed in there! "No way you can make it out here, Mom! WAY too dangerous!" And then a friend sent me this picture...hmmmmm...wonder what was so much more interesting over there?! :)

It's a REAL Snow Day!

After two previous snow days that amounted to "dustings", the boys I and were skeptical about the possibility of any amounts of real snow. Still...we went to the grocery store and stocked up on tons of food, wore our pajamas inside out (a ritual that is sure to guarantee snow!) and went to bed with our fingers crossed! When we woke up...nothing. But...wait for it...wait for it...it's snowing! It started somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00 this morning and currently at 4:30 it's still going strong! Current weather reports call for somewhere between 6 to 10 inches! Woo Hoo! And it's SO pretty! My mission this morning was to get Clint and Garrett to their friends houses for already scheduled spend the night parties. No amount of snow was going to interfere with their social activities!! And I was determined to get home before the streets began to freeze! I'm hoping their friend's moms stocked up on tons of food too, as it looks to snow throughout the night and into tomorrow! Will post more pictures as the snow continues...!

The hill to Pearson's house had already begun to ice over, and since sliding my car off into a ditch was NOT on my list of things to do today, I put poor Garrett out at the bottom and he had to hike it up to the top...just adding to the adventure of "Snow Day"!

Battle of the Boulevard!

Seeking both a sweep of Belmont for the season, and to stop a two-game losing skid, the Bisons hit 26-of-28 free throws on the way to a 78-72 win at the Curb Event Center Tuesday night! Down by as many as 13 at one point, the Bisons never stopped fighting until they had clawed their way back to victory! They now take their show on the road in hopes of bringing home wins from ETSU and Campbell! Good Luck, Bisons!

For every ending, there is a new beginning; for every memory, there is a dream ahead.

Another night of "last events" for our High School Senior, Carter. Not only did the Bisons play on Saturday afternoon, but Saturday night was also Homecoming at David Lipscomb High School. Carter and the Lipscomb Mustangs beat Nashville Central Christian in a gym packed to capacity with Homecoming fans and their dates! Clint even got in on the "date" action this year with his new girlfriend, Allison Brewer. Of course, since Clint isn't quite old enough to drive, the parents had to escort him and his friends to dinner! Don't worry, we let them have their own table in another part of the restaurant, and I even refrained from snapping pictures during dinner, unlike some of the other moms!

Lipscomb Bison Basketball

The last two Bison games at home - Thursday and Saturday - didn't turn out exactly like "Coach Sanderson" would have liked! The Bisons fell 86-82 to Campbell Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena in a game that was a dogfight from start to finish. It was the second home loss in a row for the Bisons, where a last second shot by ETSU on Thursday beat the Bisons 71-69. They now head out for a three game road trip with a return to Belmont on Tuesday, then off for a rematch with Campbell and ETSU at their home gyms. Wish them luck!

A happier note at Thursdays game for me was getting to spend it with two of our favorite Bison fans, Abigail and Ansley! Come on Bisons, we are cheering for you!!

I think to myself....what a wonderful world....

I wonder...can you love your kids too much? "They" say, by the time they are 18 years old, you will be ready for them to leave....well, I'm not. And thinking about Carter being gone makes me sad. Did I do everything I meant to do, and say everything I meant to say, and show him everything I meant to show him...Have I taught him all the skills he needs to leave home and make it on his own? Probably not! So for the next few months I imagine I will be making him crazy teaching him how to do his own laundry, and make his own food (no, the boy cannot feed himself!) and saying all the things I meant to say, but never got around to. Did I cheer loud enough at his games, or teach him to love the Lord, and respect other people? ...Raising kids is probably the most challenging job you can have. I just want to be able to say it was a job well done...
