Well, the snow did come! TONS of snow! And it kept coming until we had somewhere between 5 to 7 inches...or more! (Depending on who you ask!) But it definitely was enough to get out the sleds and the snowboards and head on over to the nearest hill for some serious sledding! I even managed a few turns on the "old school" sleds...which for some reason just don't handle as well as I remember! Must be the sled!! And after being tossed off into the snow a couple times - which is not as soft as it looks! - I decided I would make a better photographer than a sledder! What a blast! I love seeing my kids have so much fun! (Clint and Garrett were still at their friends houses...so we had to pick up a few friends! You know I can't travel with less than four...or more!)
Today is Clint's 15th birthday! He spent the night at one of his best friend's houses to celebrate...and now today when I called to see what time I needed to come pick him up, he was sure they were completely snowed in there! "No way you can make it out here, Mom! WAY too dangerous!" And then a friend sent me this picture...hmmmmm...wonder what was so much more interesting over there?! :)
After two previous snow days that amounted to "dustings", the boys I and were skeptical about the possibility of any amounts of real snow. Still...we went to the grocery store and stocked up on tons of food, wore our pajamas inside out (a ritual that is sure to guarantee snow!) and went to bed with our fingers crossed! When we woke up...nothing. But...wait for it...wait for it...it's snowing! It started somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00 this morning and currently at 4:30 it's still going strong! Current weather reports call for somewhere between 6 to 10 inches! Woo Hoo! And it's SO pretty! My mission this morning was to get Clint and Garrett to their friends houses for already scheduled spend the night parties. No amount of snow was going to interfere with their social activities!! And I was determined to get home before the streets began to freeze! I'm hoping their friend's moms stocked up on tons of food too, as it looks to snow throughout the night and into tomorrow! Will post more pictures as the snow continues...!
The hill to Pearson's house had already begun to ice over, and since sliding my car off into a ditch was NOT on my list of things to do today, I put poor Garrett out at the bottom and he had to hike it up to the top...just adding to the adventure of "Snow Day"!

Seeking both a sweep of Belmont for the season, and to stop a two-game losing skid, the Bisons hit 26-of-28 free throws on the way to a 78-72 win at the Curb Event Center Tuesday night! Down by as many as 13 at one point, the Bisons never stopped fighting until they had clawed their way back to victory! They now take their show on the road in hopes of bringing home wins from ETSU and Campbell! Good Luck, Bisons!
Another night of "last events" for our High School Senior, Carter. Not only did the Bisons play on Saturday afternoon, but Saturday night was also Homecoming at David Lipscomb High School. Carter and the Lipscomb Mustangs beat Nashville Central Christian in a gym packed to capacity with Homecoming fans and their dates! Clint even got in on the "date" action this year with his new girlfriend, Allison Brewer. Of course, since Clint isn't quite old enough to drive, the parents had to escort him and his friends to dinner! Don't worry, we let them have their own table in another part of the restaurant, and I even refrained from snapping pictures during dinner, unlike some of the other moms!
The last two Bison games at home - Thursday and Saturday - didn't turn out exactly like "Coach Sanderson" would have liked! The Bisons fell 86-82 to Campbell Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena in a game that was a dogfight from start to finish. It was the second home loss in a row for the Bisons, where a last second shot by ETSU on Thursday beat the Bisons 71-69. They now head out for a three game road trip with a return to Belmont on Tuesday, then off for a rematch with Campbell and ETSU at their home gyms. Wish them luck!
A happier note at Thursdays game for me was getting to spend it with two of our favorite Bison fans, Abigail and Ansley! Come on Bisons, we are cheering for you!!
I wonder...can you love your kids too much? "They" say, by the time they are 18 years old, you will be ready for them to leave....well, I'm not. And thinking about Carter being gone makes me sad. Did I do everything I meant to do, and say everything I meant to say, and show him everything I meant to show him...Have I taught him all the skills he needs to leave home and make it on his own? Probably not! So for the next few months I imagine I will be making him crazy teaching him how to do his own laundry, and make his own food (no, the boy cannot feed himself!) and saying all the things I meant to say, but never got around to. Did I cheer loud enough at his games, or teach him to love the Lord, and respect other people? ...Raising kids is probably the most challenging job you can have. I just want to be able to say it was a job well done...
Guard Josh Slater led the Lipscomb Bisons with 16 points and 14 rebounds on the way to a 64-53 win over Belmont Monday night in Allen Arena! It was the 125th meeting between the two teams and the 20th anniversary of the "Battle of the Boulevard"!
I am always amazed at how many basketball games one mom can fit into a Saturday! Yesterday seemed like a slow day with only four! (and a Talent Show!) But it's MUCH nicer to end the night on a win, which is just what we did when the Bisons ran their winning streak to three games with an 80-66 win over USC Upstate at Allen Arena! After several years of playing guitar, Carter finally got up enough nerve to perform in his High School talent show! Still not completely comfortable with his singing voice, he opted to play the guitar for friend and beautiful singer, Sophie Meyers. They performed "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon. They both did a fantastic job! (Wish I had video!! So if anybody out there does, let me know!)
Well, at least we were hoping for snow days! In anticipation of "a big snow", Grant and his third grade class went outside on Wednesday to make a child-size snowflake and do a little "snow chant" in hopes of increasing the possibility of snow! They DID get their snow days - two in fact, but the amount was not exactly what they were hoping for! ...Oh well, you make the most of what you get!
Based on the way they played in Monday night’s 89-79 comeback win over Florida Gulf Coast at Allen Arena, Scott knows his players are understanding what he wants them to do. The win was the second Atlantic Sun win in a row for the Bisons. The Bisons are 6-7 overall, 3-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. It's been 14 years since Trans-Siberian Orchestra debuted with the single "Christmas Eve," inspiring generations of fans to rediscover the multi-dimensional art form of the rock opera. Thank you Mimi and Grandpa for our Christmas tickets! Although not all the Sanderson's were able to attend, we were able to share our gift with others, and together we had an awesome night! I think Carter and Brandon now have a new "crush" on Caitlin Moe, the incredibly talented 21 year old violinist!

If you need a place to go skiing this side of the Rockies, Perfect North - in Lawrenceburg, Indiana - is a great choice! The boys and I loaded up the car with all the borrowed ski clothes we could manage and headed up North, with a couple car loads of friends, for the boys first skiing adventure. (Actually, Carter is sure he remembers us skiing in Colorado, but that has got to be at least 13 years ago!) You sure wouldn't have known this was their first trip as they quickly caught on and even quicker started flying down the slopes...alot quicker than me, I have to add! Despite the 20 degree weather we stayed amazingly warm, due to great "layering" advice given by some of our more experienced friends. And we managed to all make it back in one piece...whew, did I get lucky on that one!! I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures and will be checking your calendars to join us on our next trip...which we already began planning before we had even made it home! This has got to be the most fun way to ring in the New Year! It was a blast!
